Forum: GratefulDead Subject: Re: What was your musical journey to the Dead ... and afterlife ?

Being an only child, I didn't have older siblings bringing home music they discovered. I listened to AM pop radio until high school (1975). The I discovered prog music and my life was obsessed with Yes, ELP, Pink Floyd and marching band. Being a bando, I was also getting into a lot of jazz. Summer after I graduated HS in '79, a buddy and I went and saw the Dead movie in an old rundown theatre with about 3 others in the audience. It was my first trip and I was blown away with the movie, the music, and the whole scene documented in the movie. Needless to say, we saw them the next time they came to town, about 3 months later. Then I went out and bought as many Dead records I could find and that was it, I was hooked.

Post-Dead? Continued to further explore jazz, blues, and bluegrass.
